DREAM DANCER (Traumtänzerin) (2019) - Lesbian Interest Short Film


Traumtänzerin (Dream Dancer) is a lesbian interest short film (lesbischer kurzfilm) which explores the landscape of two young women, Charlie and Viky who are studying for their final exams. Charlie and Viky have an intense relationship but when Charlie's controlling father spots them by the lake and tries to prevent them seeing each other beyond school Charlie backs off and the relationship is sorely tested. Based on the novel Traumtänzerin by Alicia Zett (Zimmerman).

Fine performances from both actresses and the universal themes makes this short film an enjoyable watch.

Queering is a lesbian interest web series about Harper who has broken up from her long-time girlfriend McKenzie and is trying to move on to the next phase of her lesbian dating life without being truly over McKenzie. When Marina receives an offer to make a foray back into acting, the prospect of the couple's life being in the limelight threatens their comfortable and companionable life together. Me, Myself and Her (Io e Lei) is worth a watch for the lovely interplay between this older lesbian couple - the pair have great onscreen chemistry.

Venice The Series is a smart and sexy websoap featuring the lesbian love triangle of Gina and Ani and Ani and Lara as the main plot line. Gina played by Crystal Chappell is a single gay successful interior designer whose inability to commit costs her her relationship with Ani. Ani, a freelance photographer grappling with her own insecurities, wants more than Gina can offer so finally resolves to cut herself free of Gina.

Ani begins a new relationship with Lara, a writer, but soon finds that Lara is more complicated than she first thought and Gina is still her go-to person. What makes this series a quality watch is the onscreen chemistry between the women, the twists and turns in the storyline and the wonderful ensemble cast. Venice The Series offers viewers four seasons of must-see drama in 48 episodes. The first season in particular is a standout.

BETWEEN TWO WOMEN - UK Lesbian Movie (2000) Ellen and Kathy




Between Two Women tells the story of Ellen Hardy, an unhappily married mother of a ten year old son, who develops a relationship with Kathy Thompson her son's teacher. Set in Yorkshire in northern England in 1950's Ellen is torn between her duties as a wife and mother and a fear of admitting her feelings for Kathy. This is a gritty tale with fine performances from both actresses without the glitz of many modern movies. Don't be too put off by the trailer Between Two Women is definitely worth the watch and unlike many lesbian movies actually has a happy ending.

Katja and Isabella are a German lesbian couple who are married and have been together for sometime in this lesbian interest film Zwei Mütter (Two Mothers). When they decide to have a baby they come up against a lot more anomalies in the German legal system than they could ever have anticipated. Their desire for a child however forces them to leave no stone unturned but it also sorely tests their relationship.

This documentary drama is based on the stories of three actual German lesbian couples trying to have a child and have the same rights as any other parents. Definitely worth the watch.
