Jean and Lydia
Set in Scotland in 1952 Tell it to the Bees is a lesbian interest film featuring the love story between Dr Jean Markham and her housekeeper Lydia Weekes. When Lydia, abandoned by her husband and evicted for not being able to pay the rent goes to work for the local doctor, recently returned to the district, an intimate relationship between the two women develops. However Charlie, Lydia's son feeling left out of the secrets between Lydia and Jean, lets the cat out of the bag about the true nature of their relationship with far reaching consequences.Stand out performances from both actresses, the motif of the bees and the fact that both women are alive at the end of the movie sets this film apart from others where one of the lesbian characters invariably dies.
